When do?
Whendoo is an iPhone app for the activities you repeat on a fixed or flexible interval, like changing the sheets, doing a leg workout or changing the air filter. Tell it roughly how often, and it tells you when each one is due again.
For iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later. The free version has up to 5 activities.
How it works
A calendar entry or a recurring reminder wants a fixed day, and these activities don't have one. Whendoo takes a range instead, so doing something a day early or a day late is fine and nothing needs rescheduling.
Step 1
Say how often
Each activity gets a frequency like "every 3 to 5 days" instead of a due date. An exact frequency like "every 2 weeks" works too.
Step 2
Mark it done
Tap the ring to complete an activity. Whendoo logs a completion with today's date and starts counting from there.
Step 3
Check the status
The ring fills as the next time gets closer, and the pill says where the activity stands.
The four statuses
- Done for now means the next time is more than a week away.
- Ready soon means it's coming up within a week.
- Ready means now is a good time, any day in your range.
- Needs attention means it's been too long.
When an activity needs attention, its ring and pill change color and the pill counts the days. Nothing resets and there is no streak to break. If you have turned on the morning summary, it names what needs attention alongside what is due today.
What people use it for
A workout split
Whatever your split, each session gets its own "every 3 to 5 days", and Whendoo tells you which one is up next. When a matching workout shows up in Apple Health, Whendoo completes the activity the next time you open the app.
Around the house
Sheets, plants, filters, the coffee maker: everything runs on its own rhythm, and Whendoo turns them into one list of what's due this week. In the Home Screen widget, tap the ring to complete an activity without opening the app.
The long gaps
Backups, tire pressure, smoke alarm batteries, the dentist. On a six-month or yearly cycle these are easy to forget entirely. Whendoo keeps the date and tells you when it comes around.
Looking after yourself
Stretching, walks, a haircut, a day off screens. Set a range for each, add a weekly goal to the ones you want more often, and let the morning summary tell you what today holds.
Also
- Next up picks one activity from what's due, for when you have ten minutes and don't want to choose. Tap the 🎯 Next up chip and the list becomes one card. Mark done completes it, and Not now moves on to the next one.
- The Home Screen widget shows what's due, with the same colors and pills as the app. Tap the ring to complete an activity without opening the app. The widget needs iOS 17.
- Apple Health. Link an activity to a workout type. When a matching workout shows up in Apple Health, Whendoo completes the activity the next time you open the app. That covers an Apple Watch, a Garmin, a Peloton and any app that writes to Apple Health.
- Pause and skip. Pause an activity while you're away or injured, and its progress is frozen until it resumes. Skip resets the timer without logging a completion.
- Categories. Group activities under an emoji, filter the home list by one, and point a widget at a single category.
- Morning summary. The only notification is an optional morning summary.
- Six color palettes that also recolor the widget, including Cobalt to ember, which is color vision accessible.
- Export. Export data in Settings gives you every activity, category and completion as JSON.
Pricing
The free version has up to 5 activities, with every feature included. Whendoo Unlimited removes the limit for a one-time purchase of $6.99. Your Family Sharing group gets it too. There is no subscription.
Paused activities count toward the 5. Deleting one frees a slot, but it also deletes that activity's completion history.
Privacy
There is no account and no server. Whendoo collects no analytics and does no tracking. Whendoo sends anonymous reports of crashes, freezes and unexpected errors, which you can turn off in Settings. Your activities stay on your iPhone and travel with its iCloud or computer backup. If you turn on Sync Apple Health workouts, Health data is only read, and it never leaves your iPhone.
Questions
Is this a habit tracker?
It's close, but the shape is different. Habit trackers are built around doing something every day and keeping a streak, and missing a day breaks the streak. Whendoo is for the activities you repeat on a fixed or flexible interval. When an activity needs attention, its ring and pill change color and the pill counts the days. Nothing resets and there is no streak to break.
What happens if I miss an activity?
It becomes Needs attention: its ring and pill change color and the pill counts the days, like +3d. Nothing resets and there is no streak to break. When you do it, tap the ring, and Whendoo counts from that day.
Is it good for ADHD?
It was built for exactly the activities that slip: the ones with no fixed day, that you only notice once it's been too long. You set each one up once and then stop carrying it around. There is no streak to break and no pile of reminders. Next up picks one activity from what's due, for when you have ten minutes and don't want to choose, and when life gets in the way you can pause anything.
Do I need an account?
There is no account and no server. Your activities stay on your iPhone and travel with its iCloud or computer backup. Export data in Settings gives you every activity, category and completion as JSON.
Does it work with Apple Watch, Garmin or Peloton?
Yes, through Apple Health. Link an activity to a workout type. When a matching workout shows up in Apple Health, Whendoo completes the activity the next time you open the app. That covers an Apple Watch, a Garmin, a Peloton and any app that writes to Apple Health. A link can be narrowed to a brand name and a minimum duration. Health data is only read, and it never leaves your iPhone.
Is there an Android version?
Not at the moment. Whendoo is an iPhone app, and both the widget and the Health sync are built on Apple frameworks.
